Charcoal filter for plastic bottle

On fishing, on a hike or on vacation in nature, it may happen that drinking water has become unusable. Or ended, or spilled - it does not matter. In general, you can get water in the near reservoir, boil, wait until it cools down and calmly get drunk. But in my opinion, it's a long time. It is much faster and more efficient to use a pre-made, hand-made, carbon filter. He, this filter, is essentially a camping gear, and after its manufacture and successful application, it always lies in a hiking backpack, just in case. Moreover, he almost does not occupy places. And it will not take much time to produce it.

Making a carbon filter

First you need to put up coal. First activated, then birch. In different dishes. Not in any way not to pound into fine dust, otherwise we will not get a filter, but a long cork! Pieces should be 1.5 - 2 mm. You can sift powdered coal through an appropriate sieve.

After the coal is ready, let's do the wads. Using a ruler, measure the inside diameter of the tube and draw the corresponding circles on the felt by means of a felt. Cut these circles.

These will be wads between the layers, so that later the coal is not mixed inside the tube. It will take four. Now we wipe the tube with medical alcohol, thus disinfecting it, as well as removing the remnants of previously stored contents from it. We wait until the alcohol dries inside. We put one wad on the bottom of the tube.

Falling asleep activated carbon. We put the second wad on top of the coal.

In no case do we break the layers, otherwise the water will filter very slowly. How poured - so let it lie. Now we take a synthetic tape and wind it into a roll, the size of the inner diameter of the tube.

Put this roll in a flat tube. Put the third wad on top of it.

Fall asleep crushed birch coal so that the edge remains in the thickness of the last wad and another roll of tape.

Then put the fourth wad and the last roll of tape on top. This is how the full tuba turned out.

Now we cut a hole in the bottom of the cap, about 10-12 mm.and, using a burner, solder the cap to the tube with threads upward so that you can screw the filter onto the bottle.

Clay in this case, for obvious reasons, I would not use to advise, therefore I took the burner. For a more aesthetic appearance, I pasted the filter with colored stripes of self-adhesive film, although this is an individual matter. We make in the bottom of the tube markings for the holes, from where filtered water will flow, and drill.
