Owl fate: is it so bad to work at night?
Being an owl is very difficult. Owls, as a rule, are very sensitive to human sleep, and therefore will never wake the sleeper with their nightly walkings around the apartment. What can not be said about the hyperactive and sometimes selfish larks, who like to open the curtains in the mornings and shout "Hello, Peace", waking up innocent neighbors in the mornings.
However, the “owl fate” is also bad because, according to the constant assurances of doctors, working at night is harmful for the human body. And for those who do not just sit up late on projects, but also work at night shift, the forecast of doctors and scientists sounds menacing ...
So, work at night is primarily associated with an increased risk of obesity, diabetes and cancer. Also, when awake at night, the body cannot repair DNA damage, as can be seen from the stagnation of the chemical 8-oxo-dG. Owls have impaired its urine excretion due to unhealthy sleep patterns.

However, some tend to relate this process to a decrease in the production of melatonin, which is produced by the body only in the process of sleeping in a dark room. Of course, there are supplements with which you can make up for the lack of a hormone, however, immunologists still warn against taking such supplements, because their effect on the whole body is not fully understood.
In the meantime, doctors and scientists argue and cannot come to a common opinion, we will advise owls and people working on night shifts to eat right, keep themselves in good physical shape and give up bad habits!
