Ever wondered what Hugh Grant is actually like in real life?
Ever Wondered What Happened To Love Actually's Karen and Harry?
Sometimes when you watch a film, you get really involved in the characters' lives. So, naturally, we love it when the writer of said film gives you some juicy insider info about what happened after the credits rolled.
Take Love Actually, for example. Obviously there are about 37294 different story lines, so it would probably take writer Emma Freud (who just so happens to be married to the film's director and co-writer, Richard Curtis) about three years to get through what happened to all of the characters.
But there are some characters weneed to know what happened to. Like poor Emma Thompson's character, Karen, who was married to Harry (a.k.a. Alan Rickman).
If you remember (and you will, because we feel like you're just as big a fan of the film as we are) Karen gets all kinds of excited when she accidentally spots a brand new necklace in her husband's pocket just before Christmas. She obviously thinks it's for her. But the dream literally dies in front of us when she opens a cheeky early Christmas Eve present from Harry and it turns out to be a CD. What a joke.
It's a moment in cinematic history that will stay with one and all as being potentially the most heartbreaking. Because, obviously, Harry's been off messing about with Mia.
Anyway, what we really wanted to know, but never found out, was what the heck happened to Karen and Harry after their marriage was left in pieces following his adulterous activities. So when one Twitter user tweeted Emma Freud asking that exact question, we were delighted to see that she responded—with actual information. This is almost better than the time J. K. Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay and then everything made sense all of the sudden.
Yup, Emma confirmed that although Harry and Karen stayed together (probably for the kids) their home was never as happy and trusting as it once was. TBH, we'd have rather found out that Karen ended up leaving her cheating husband, and shacking up with Liam Neeson's character instead. Who, by the way, would have loved her for who she is and would definitely NOT have gone around having unnecessary affairs.
But whatever, these things happen. We hope you managed to stay strong, Karen.
