Great garden path ideas

Agree that the summer cottage with paths looks neat and well-groomed. And to make them yourself is not so difficult, especially since there are a lot of materials for construction today, for every taste. It is summer, and it’s time to start arranging the tracks on your site.

Paths can be made of brick, floorboard, concrete blocks, as well as using different combinations of materials. With all the variety of options should follow the rules: the texture and color of the tracks should be in harmony with the facade of the house and the fence.

Concrete track

This track is better than none at all. But gray dull color of concrete can be ennobled: to decorate (at the stage of filling) with a color mosaic, inserts of ceramic tiles, shell rock, whole ornaments.

Fill the track: mark the width and length of the walkway, remove the soil to a depth of 10 cm. Into the recess pour sand 5 cm in, thoroughly ram it and pour it with water. On the sand, we mount wooden concreting frames measuring 60x60 cm, with a distance of 5-7 cm between them (lawn grass will be planted there). Fill the framework with a concrete solution. When it dries a little, we decorate the surface with the chosen decor. After 2-3 days, when the tracks finally dry out, the soil between the plates is sown with grass.

From the boards

The best material here is larch, the wood of which does not rot. The wooden paths are lifted above the ground, installing them on sturdy beams, which are pre-treated with the composition from decay.

The bars themselves are placed on a flat layer of gravel 5-6 cm high. The boards are covered with a gap of 1-2 cm between them, so that they are ventilated. Thanks to this method, the track will last a long time.

From chocks or tree cuts

These tracks look very decorative, but you will have to tinker. The material is pretreated with a composition from decay (it can also be coated twice with hot drying oil).

They mark the bed path and dig a trench. Its depth should be 5-6 cm greater than the height of chocks or cuts. The bed is covered with gravel by 3 cm, then sand by 3 cm. Tamped well and watered abundantly. After that, geotextiles are laid and chocks are placed tightly on it. The gaps between them are filled with gravel in half with sand and shed plenty of water.

From natural stone

This material is great for laying out garden paths. They look very picturesque due to the irregular natural shape of stones and size.

The prepared bed is covered with rubble (pebbles, slag, brick battle) and tamped down. Fall asleep sand and shed water.

The stone is selected in size or ornament and spread on the sand or concrete solution, pressing it with a rubber mallet. After laying, the gaps are filled with sand and a liquid cement solution in a ratio of 3: 1.

To dock the stones, it may be necessary to trim their edges with a grinder. Seams between the stones can not be cemented - over time they will overgrow with grass, and the tracks will look more natural.

From plastic modules

Ready garden paths can be ... cheap to buy. Plastic modules can easily be laid on any base, they serve for a long time, they are well cleaned. For the winter, the modules are dismantled, washed and cleaned for storage until the next season.
