How to increase the range of a Wi-Fi laptop
I had an old netbook that was almost ten years old. And for all the time of its operation, I experienced a little discomfort, since it was very bad at catching Wi-Fi. I didn’t betray particular attention until the laptop of the short one came into my hands. It was just an excellent reception of even a weak signal. The same router was caught on different machines in different ways: on my PC there was one division, and on the other laptop the full level of reception. And then I thought.Unscrew the screws and removed the front panel. There were two antennas that were located on the sides of the camera. They were made on a printed circuit board on the dipole principle.A long wire ran around them that went around the display perimeter.Next, it turned out that the built-in antenna was partially hidden under the aluminum foil that screened the screen.Result:
Alteration of the built-in antennaAfter reading the forums, I learned that Wi-Fi reception antennas are located near the display. First of all, I decided to take a look at them. I pulled the plugs out with a stationery knife.
- A long cable gave a significant attenuation.
- The native antenna had a terribly poor sensitivity.
- Plus, it was partially closed by a screen, which simply destroyed it.
- A round thin metal tube 25 mm long.
- That's all. You will need 2 pieces, because there are two antennas.
