How to make a plane out of paper - 5 options

Who among us in childhood did not fold paper airplanes ?! A bunch of old notebooks, newspapers and magazines were involved. This occupation to this day does not lose popularity. For children to collect a paper airplane is fascinating and quite simple, everyone has a desire to make the fastest and most beautiful model. This hobby is a famous form of aerogram, one of the components of the art of folding paper figures.

In this collection I will show 5 ways to make a plane from paper with step-by-step photos. Perhaps the hands of every adult remember how to make a plane from an ordinary tetrad sheet in a matter of seconds. This is a simple toy, reminiscent of childhood, admires with its flying abilities. At a time when children did not yet know about phones and tablets, it was the paper airplanes that entertained the boys at school changes.

Our planes made of plain paper will help you assemble a set of your own military aircraft. All models available in this selection of our site are very easy to make. We hope you will not have difficulty. There are many ways to make a flying plane; we will only introduce you to some of them. After reviewing the pictures, you can design an aircraft carrier or a fighter that will not leave you and others indifferent. How to make paper boats see here.

Do-it-yourself paper airplane

Option 1 - model of a combat fighter

Of course, making simple “ticks” in the form of airplanes is too simple. Using the technique of origami, you can teach your child to fold from paper the model of a combat fighter. The process of its manufacture is simple, if you follow the step-by-step photos presented in this master class.

Paper plane

To create our fighter will be enough one sheet of A4. We used blue paper.

First fold the sheet in half.

After this, we make another addition, but in a different direction.

Now, to the just marked bend, you need to bend the bottom.

We perform symmetrical folds from above.

Let's expand the workpiece of the future fighter and rotate it a little.

Now let's start shaping the wings. To do this, we turn the upper right corner as follows.

Symmetric fold will perform on the left.

model of a combat fighter

The right side will turn again.

On the left side, make the same fold, and then straighten it.

On the right side, the folded fold needs to be straightened as follows.

After that, you need to bend the top layer to the right.

We are doing the same with the other wing.

Back to the right side again. The top layer is slightly bent to the left, focusing on the fold line.

After that, bend the fold down.

On the left side, perform the same actions.

Turn over the fighter's preparation to the other side.

Here we repeat all the bends made earlier. First, we perform small bends on the sides.

After that, bend all to the center line.

Now fold the fighter's billet along.

Let's shape its wings. To do this, pry the top layer down.

On the other hand, repeat the symmetric fold.

It remains to form the flaps. To do this, perform the following folds on both sides.

Our plane fighter, made in the technique of origami, is ready for flight.

Option 2 - not a complicated paper airplane model

People dreamed of flying to the sky from ancient times. Since then, centuries have passed, and only a little more than 100 years ago, the first prototype of a modern aircraft rose into the sky. As for children's fun, the technology of the 21st century allowed toy helicopters and airplanes not only to fly, but to perform aerobatics. But these aircraft are expensive and designed for children of adolescence.

And if your little son is just beginning to be interested in aviation, then it's time to start making paper paper craft with him. The creation of one of these airplanes is presented in this master class.

For the manufacture of this model will prepare:

  • A4 sheet of colored paper;
  • clear tape;
  • scissors.

Before work, place our sheet horizontally. After that, the upper side corners are required to bend to the middle.

Similarly, you need to do with the lower side corners, bend them up.

The lower edge of the blank of the future airplane must be bent upwards.

Now our triangle should be folded in half.

Expand the blank of the future of the aircraft and rotate it 180 degrees.

Continue further making our crafts. To do this, begin to bend the side corners of the triangular workpiece. First we do it on the right side.

Similar folds are made on the left side. Now the billet plane has become a square shape.

Continue the work by turning the hand-crafted item to the other side.

Here you need to bend the side corners to the center.

We fold the billet of the future aircraft along.

Arrange the resulting trapezium as follows:

Let's start shaping the wings of our aircraft. To do this, the top layer of the trapezium bends at an angle, forming one wing.

In a similar way we make the second wing.

The tail part is formed by bending the back upwards to form a triangular fold.

Now it is the turn to use transparent scotch. We connect the right and left halves with a small piece.

Our plane is ready!

Option 3 - model of a jet plane made of individual paper elements

When a person has a piece of paper at hand and an excess of free time, his hands automatically begin to fold a paper airplane. This is a simple origami that everyone can do. Some curious children go further - they begin to make paper models of real planes and spaceships.

Of course, it’s far from a fact that by making paper airplanes a child will grow up as an aircraft designer. But spatial thinking develops such an occupation well, and the child also receives pleasure from the result. If you have noticed in your son a tendency to modeling, then suggest him to make a model of a jet plane from separate paper elements.

Paper jet aircraft

To create such an airplane of paper, we will prepare only 3 square sheets of the same size.

For convenience of display in the master class, we use different colors, but the plane of paper can be made in the same range. For the front of the plane we use a red square of paper. Fold it diagonally.

After this, we make a fold along a different diagonal. So we did.

This allows you to add a red square in the form of a double triangle.

At the upper layer of the resulting triangle, turn the right corner down.

The left corner of the same top layer is required to bend down.

On the back of the red blank, repeat the same.

Let's slightly pry the corners of one layer. And the projecting corners of the other layer will be bent upwards.

After that, the bent corners will be refilled inside.

The upper corners again return to their previous position. This completes the work with the red module.

From the yellow square we will create the middle part of the plane. Fold it in two diagonals.

Then we give it the appearance of a double square. In this, the workflow is similar to the previous module.

At the top layer, fold down the corners.

The lateral corners of the other layer must be bent to the center. First, bend the right corner.

After that, bend the left corner.

Now a little protruding corners fill in.

Turn the yellow workpiece over to the other side.

The bottom corners are required to bend up.

After that, fill them in.

This is the second module for our paper airplane.

The tail part we will make of the blue square. To do this, the initial actions are repeated until we add the figure in the form of a double triangle.

At the top layer, we fold the side corners to the middle.

After that, raise them up a bit. This is the end of the work on the blue module.

We have made such blanks.

You can begin assembling a paper airplane. For this, the corners of the red module need to be inserted in yellow.

So we connected the front and middle parts of the aircraft.

In order to add a tail, the workpiece must be turned to the other side.

After that, insert the blue module.

Our jet is made of paper elements!

Option 4 - paper fighter

In Soviet times, were very popular circles of children's creativity at the Palaces of Pioneers. Every second boy wanted to enroll in an auto, ship or model aircraft circle. The choice of creative direction was directly related to the professions popular for that time: long-distance driver, sea captain or pilot.

Perhaps in the 21st century, these professions are not shrouded in a halo of heroism, but children still make models of tanks, ships and aircraft. We offer to make a fighter out of paper that will delight the child with its flight. The process of creating such a paper fighter is shown in this master class.

paper fighter

To make a fighter out of paper, take:

  • A4 sheet;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

First, the sheet must be folded in half in the longitudinal direction.

Then we will form the bow, for this we will perform a fold in the form of a corner on one side.

Fighter from paper with his own hands

After that, the same fold needs to be done from the other side.

In expanded form, the preparation of the future of the aircraft is as follows.

Bend the corner up.

Now bend it in the opposite direction, focusing on the edges of the resulting triangle.

We continue to work on. We begin to straighten the right side.

You need to give it the following form.

On the other hand, we do the same.

On the left side, slightly raise the folds made.

The inner corner will be turned outward.

Now we will turn it inside.

In the upper part of the resulting triangle, perform another fold.

Make the folded weave in the right side. So we got the cockpit.

We fold the workpiece along.

In the back, you want to cut along the specified lines. Therefore, it is better to outline them in pencil.

Cut with scissors. So we started the formation of the tail section and the wings.

Narrow parts at the edges of the wings need to bend forward.

We will do it on the second wing of the fighter.

Bend to the side first the left wing.

The right wing is also turned down.

We fold the narrow parts in half along the edges of the wings.

After that, once again bend them down.

The cut part will not be superfluous. From it we will make the tail.

We paste it.

Our paper fighter is ready!

Option 5 - do-it-yourself simple paper plane

Collecting in varying degrees, characteristic of every person and especially a child. Someone collects stamps and coins, and some - models of cars, tanks or aircraft. In this case, collecting is not cheap, because each model can cost hundreds of rubles. Therefore, you can start small - for example, the child is quite able to independently make something like some kind of airplane model.

Our master class shows the step-by-step manufacturing of a simple aircraft from colored paper.

To create it, just prepare:

  • green sheet of A4 paper
  • scissors;
  • glue stick.

First, fold the sheet in half lengthwise.

Now we are planning the future nose of the aircraft. To do this, first bend the corner on one side.

On the other side of the workpiece, you must do the same.

This is how the future aircraft procurement looks like if you unfold a piece of paper.

For further work with the purpose of convenience, we will slightly turn the workpiece. After this corner will turn up.

Now you need to fold the sides again, forming the nose of the plane. First, make the fold to the right.

We make a symmetrical fold on the left.

Again, bend the corner up, combining it with the very top edge of the workpiece.

And now this same corner needs to be bent in the opposite direction so that it protrudes by about 2-3 cm beyond the edge.

Fold the workpiece along.

We are starting to shape the wings. To do this, first perform the fold down on one side.

After that, we make a symmetrical fold from the back side.

Lift both wings up. Now we need the scissors, with their help you need to cut out along the intended line.

Carefully cut through the marked lines. This is how the wings and tail part of the aircraft became more clearly defined.

Again, bend the wings in different directions. This is how our artwork looks at this stage.

At the edges of each wing, make small folds.

For the final formation of the tail, you will need to cut one more detail out of green paper.

Glue it. Simultaneously apply the glue to the inner fold.

All neatly connect. Our airplane is ready!

Aircraft models are numerous, but from childhood, No1 is the easiest option. He took the paper, closed his eyes - after a couple of minutes the plane had already soared into the air ... no, after 23 seconds, watch the video!

How to make the airplane fly far and long?

Aircraft that fly indoors, you need to shift the center of gravity to the bow. These models fly faster and better, they are convenient to launch into the air. If you decide to compete for a while, then you should throw the plane as high as possible,so that he could dive longer.

The ways to run paper airplanes are not less than the designs for their collection. Most of all, he will be satisfied with the modeler who will be able to design his own model of the airplane. Any properly folded airplane will have good flying qualities.

Model that flies for a long time - video lesson

Helpful tips:

  1. Fold lines should be carefully smoothed with a hard object or with your fingers.
  2. For products, choose only flat paper sheets. Airplane will not come out right of crumpled, torn and bent sheets.
  3. Try to keep symmetry about the axis when folding the airplane. If this is not done, when flying, it will tilt in the side.

In order to make a paper airplane, you must take a sheet of rectangular paper, it can be of any color. You can use a sheet of notebook or newspaper spread, in general, any paper that you have will do. The density of the base must be medium so that the plane can fly over long distances and be easy to assemble (it is difficult to fix a smooth fold line on an excessively dense material).

A paper airplane is a great way to have fun, combining business with pleasure, developing fine motor skills, imagination and thinking. Most children are interested in creative pursuits. If they will add paper crafts, this will help to develop children's fingers.

The child learn to focus on the subject, think creatively and connect his fantasy to the matter. On the day of birth, you can arrange competitions between children, who quickly fold an airplane.

Working with paper is a pleasure. A model with ironed even bends will fly high and will not lose shape for a long time. First get some simple mockups, then move to more complex models. Kids love to do origami, so they are happy to join you in this business.

Interesting Facts

  1. In the Middle Ages, the production of paper in Japan acquired a mass character, and origami became samurai art. At the same time, the culture of folding secret letters. In the temples for several centuries, the methods and methods of folding the paper into a variety of figures were practiced.Perhaps, if it were not for the Japanese crane, we would not know anything about paper airplanes.
  2. Every child and adult dream of an airplane that will fly 100 meters. Do you think this is unrealistic? In 1983, Ken Blackburn from America set a world record, his paper plane stayed in airspace for 27.6 seconds.
  3. Red Bull Paper Wings launch competition has reached a global scale. For many years, along with his friends, he was fond of paper airplanes. In 1989, he took a desperate step by creating the Paper Aircraft Association. From his hands came a collection of rules for the launch of paper aviation, which today is used in competitions at various levels as an official installation.
  4. A modern airplane was born in the hands of Jack Northrop in 1930, who co-founded Lockheed Corporation. He used paper models to conduct test tasks for the construction of real aircraft.

Do you still think that paper airplanes are simple art? Then let's put together an airplane that flies well and quickly develops - maybe you will get a new record.

If you are just starting to get acquainted with origami, then first make simple models. When you find a common language with paper and realize that your models fly well, then go on to more complex designs. From photos and videos with detailed instructions, you can independently make the plane, the game with which will be a favorite thing for you and your children! Make several models at once and arrange a real show on the street.
