Lana Del Rey confirmed as the new face of H&M
Sultry singer Lana Del Rey has been unveiled as the new poster girl of high street chain H&M
After weeks of speculation, it’s been confirmed that Lana Del Rey is indeed the new face of H&M.
The sultry singer has been unveiled as the global poster girl for the Swedish high street giant’s autumn 2012 ads, with a second campaign planned for winter.
In the pictures, Del Rey – real name Elizabeth Grant – can be seen wearing a fluffy pink jumper and pastel-hued skinny jeans as she stares at the camera with that famous moody pout. Statement drop earrings, ’60s-inspired make-up and backcombed hair complete the look in the ads shot by Dutch photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Donald Schneider, H&M’s Creative Director, told WWD: ‘The mood is very LA noir. It’s inspired by our fall collection.’

As well as the ads, it’s been revealed that the American songstress has recorded a cover of the ’60s hit Blue Velvet for a minifilm, which will launch on the H&M website on 19th September, with an edited version used in TV ads to kick off the new season.
The H&M campaign is the latest in a string of fashion coups for the singer, who has been embraced by the fashion world.
