Replace a regular towel for this incredible accessory
How nice to get out of the bathroom, turning into a soft fluffy towel! If you are taking a shower in the gym, on the beach or in the bath, it is important that the towel always remains in its place. And if you do not want to constantly monitor your "suit", replace the usual towels with a special peignoir. Sew it very easy. You can use your favorite towel.
For the project you will need:
- Tape 2-2.5 cm wide;
- tape measure;
- sharp scissors;
- sewing machine;
- sticky tape;
- terrycloth or waffle towel
Pick a towel of the right size. The width should be the girth of your hips (or other largest body circumference) + 7 centimeters. The length should be from the armpits to mid-thigh or more. It is better to choose for this project a thinner towel, for example waffle or with a short nap.
You can sew a children's version.To do this, you need to cut off the desired piece from the towel and process the edges with tape.
Cut a piece of tape so that it is 7 cm longer than the towel. Using pins, fasten the tape 2-2.5 centimeters lower from the edge so that the edges of the tape recede on both sides of the towel.
Scribe the tape on the towel from the bottom and top edge and secure the stitches. You will have a drawstring into which you can pass the gum. Take out the pins when you make a seam.
Measure the upper chest circumference (above the chest) and cut a piece of elastic to the desired length. Use a wide enough rubber band to hold the structure and not to squeeze it.
Hook the safety pin to the edge of the rubber band to thread it into the drawstring.
Gently stretch the gum, so that in the end both edges protrude beyond the edges of the towel. Fix the edges of the elastic by sewing them on a typewriter with small stitches.
Bend the edges of the ribbon, fasten with pins, and then sew to the towel by hand.
Attach one side of the velcro pins, and then secure with machine stitch. It is better to stitch it in the shape of a square so that the clasp will hold tight.
Do the same with the other part of the sticky tape, attaching it to the other side of the towel.
Try on a towel and mark the desired length of the loops.
Fold the edges of the stitches and secure each with a pin.
With the help of another pin, attach the harnesses to the towel.
Sew the stitches on the typewriter.
It remains to remove all pins and thread edges. Your comfortable soft dressing gown is ready.
