Shaker for mixing pickling solution

The shaker for stirring solution picking will be a useful device for amateur radio operators practicing the self-manufacturing of printed circuit boards. As a basis for the device, you can use a CD or DVD drive from a computer, with a working tray extension mechanism. As a "donor" I used a widely used CD-ROM, manufactured by LG. The device must be completely disassembled. For further work, you will need: - plastic base, with the motor and the gear of the tray extension mechanism, - the movable tray, - the front panel board with the volume control. For the reciprocating movement of the tray apply the crank mechanism. Gear gear must be carefully removed. The gear, which was engaged with the rack rack, requires a little refinement. From the gear rims on the top and bottom of the gears, you need to remove two teeth with a protruding knife, freeing up space for setting the crank axis. The axis is a threaded sleeve and is mounted on the upper side of the gear with a short screw.

The modified gear is worth trying on, to make sure that there are no obstacles to free rotation. The screw head, along the trajectory of its movement, can touch the base. This difficulty is eliminated by a protruding knife, the base plastic is removed at the points of contact with the screw head. Movable tray, modified according to the plan. Using the hacksaw blade, the rack is removed.

In the place where the crank is located, a hole is made in the tray (in my case, approximately 20 by 40mm. ), in order to simplify the assembly and avoid touching the crank axis beyond the bottom surface of the tray. Now it is possible to assemble a reducer and check the mobility of parts. Shaker for mixing the solution In order to transmit motion to the tray, you will need to make a connecting rod. I made a connecting rod from a thick paper clip and two electrical terminals, with a hole diameter of 3 mm. The blanks are connected by soldering.

On the tray, the connecting rod is mounted with a screw M3 and a nut with a lock nut. On the crank axis, with an M3 screw (long enough to rest on the mounting screw of the threaded bushing while maintaining the mobility of the connecting rod).

For a smooth change in the frequency of vibrations tray, I made a regulator to control the drive motor.

The scheme is a simple stabilizer, the voltage is adjustable from 0 to 6.5 volts. The stabilizer parts are mounted by mounting, on the front panel board. Remove all components except the variable resistor from the board.

The tracks of the circuit board through which undesirable compounds may form can be broken with a scalpel. Two sections of the variable resistor are connected in parallel. The current flowing through the motor is not large, additional measures for cooling the regulator transistors are not required. For clarity, I depicted the wiring diagram of the regulator with all connections.

The solder joints at the terminals of the transistors are insulated with heat shrink tubing. Transistors are mounted on the reverse side of the board.

A power supply with a constant voltage from 7.5 to 12 volts, you can" borrow "from a modem, router, wireless access point, etc. I used the power supply from the DECT phone of Panasonic (for a considerable part of the time it works for its intended purpose).

Of course, to the connector on the block you need to select the appropriate connector, for installation on the board and connect it correctly. In general, the shaker turned out to be unpretentious and in all respects useful. Shaker for stirring the solution It is convenient to use plastic trays of ice cream as a container for etching the boards. The volume of the solution is usually 100 - 150 ml, the etching time of the printed circuit boards is markedly reduced (even with weak and old solutions). Due to the uniform etching and less time of the board in the solution, it is possible to avoid characteristic defects ("podrava" and "peretrava").
