Sandra

’s doctor gave her a congratulatory hug at her last visit because she’d lowered her LDL cholesterol by 22 points. And she’s lost 36 lbs and counting. But what keeps her motivation up when a plateau discourages her? Her parents and brother, she says, who encourage her and check in about her progress. Sandra puts a healthy twist on her summer vacations by doing fitness activities with her parents (they hike together when they visit each other), and choosing healthy restaurants. You might say that the family that weighs together, stays together: Sandra’s mom lost 50 lbs last year through Weight Watchers, and so the pair checks in with each other after their weekly weigh-ins (Sandra hops on the scale on Wednesdays, and her mom checks her weight on Thursdays).

Mikita
Mikita

has already lost 17 lbs and is kicking her habit of sipping sugary coffee drinks daily too. The Challenge has meant big changes for her family, but luckily, her household has embraced the eating plan. Mikita’s husband, a chef, was formerly a fan of frying up dinner, but he’s having fun finding new healthy recipes. Even her kids like some foods on the eating plan—Mikita’s three-year-old son enjoys black olives and feta cheese in salad, and the kids have a race to finish their veggies during dinner. It’s all about balance for Mikita, who chooses baked dishes over fried now and feels okay about indulging in some apple cobbler every once in a while.

Crystal
Crystal

has a sedentary job as a lawyer, but she balances sitting all day with making healthy choices. She’s learned that it’s the little things that add up, like taking the long route to the water cooler to fill up her reusable cup. She usually drinks between 12 to 15 cups each day! Crystal’s inspired her husband to drink more water too. (Joy taught the group that staying hydrated promotes satiety and keeps you alert—and less likely to reach for a snack.) Crystal’s lost more than 8 lbs so far and people around her are noticing, including family members and the sheriff’s officer she sees in court.

Jennifer
Jennifer

is down 23 lbs—and wearing a pair of pants that she hasn’t fit into in years. Her new lifestyle is causing a chain reaction of healthy habits: Her kids (Olivia, 5, and Garrett, 4) are literally following in her footsteps, joining her for laps around the track. Jennifer is intent on notforcingthem to do anything, but rather, leading by example. Her technique paid off when Olivia chose to drink water instead of Diet Pepsi. It’s motivating for her to see that instead of mimicking her prior not-so-healthy habits (like drinking soda all day), her children are now imitating her healthy habits, such as doing sit-ups.

Deborah
Deborah

has lost 18 lbs and has lowered her blood pressure to boot. After her husband saw Deborah succeeding, he decided to drink more water, too, and joins her on walks. Everyone in her house is already eating healthier by default because there are fewer unhealthy treats in the kitchen and good-for-you picks are becoming the norm. Deborah finds it easy to modify her nutritious meals so she can prepare dinner for the whole family, like tacos, substituting beef for her son and black beans for her daughter.

Antoinette
Antoinette

has lost more than 19 lbs since the start of the Challenge—and the most motivating part is the ripple effect her new choices are having on loved ones. She’s inspired her husband and sister to pay attention to their health: Two weeks into Antoinette’s new routine, her husband began walking daily and reworked his diet. Her sister has pledged to eat healthier when they’re together as well. And even Antoinette’s young granddaughters notice the positive changes Antoinette’s making for her body and the success she’s had so far.
